• Resumen

  Emerge en este artículo una de las facetas menos conocidas de David Peña (1862-1930): la de autor en el campo de la historia religiosa, lo que llevó a cabo fundamentalmente a través de una serie de artículos que publicó en el diario La Prensa de Buenos Aires en 1923. Sus ideas liberales y laicistas se despliegan a lo largo de estos escritos, que procuran conjugar, a la vez, las reglas del oficio historiográfico –ya afianzadas en los comienzos de los años veinte– y un carácter militante que apunta a iluminar e inducir un cambio en la legislación argentina. En la trama de esta operación escrituraria, se esconden intenciones e influencias que el análisis del epistolario de Peña contribuye a poner en evidencia.

• Abstract

  One of the less known facets of David Peña (1862-1930) emerges here: that of an author in the religious history field, which he mainly carried out through a articles series that he published in the Buenos Aires newspaper La Prensa in 1923. His liberal and secularist ideas are developed throughout these writings that seek to combine, at the same time, the the historiographic job rules –already defined in the early ’20– and a militant character that aims to illuminate and induce a change in the Argentine legislation. In the plot of this writing operation, intentions and influences are hidden , which the analysis of Peña’s correspondence contributes to make evident.
